Watched it this morning...hm.

This episode seemed to be the most MotW episode this season so far, at least that I can recall for this season. All of the other episodes have had at least one character-focused thing going on (Tosh/Tommy, Jack/John, Owen's death, Adam stealing Jack's memories, Gwen/Rhys, etc.), but this one, save for Ianto having a vague connection with the theater and his semi-despair when he could only save one life out of the breaths that had been stolen, and Jack's appearance in the film, it felt kind of...flat character-wise.

*G* Though I have to wonder if this traveling show was when Jack enjoyed the twin acrobats.

It was spooky, don't get me wrong! I love spooky traveling shows (which reminsd me, I still need to watch season 2 of Carnivale) from back in the day, and the whole 'trapped on film' concept was very cool. I just hope that there will be more character-driven stuff in episodes to come.

I suppose the serial-lover in me latches on to the overarching stories and reveals anymore, and gets annoyed when there's nothing to wonder at for next week. That change is funny to me, because when I used to watch X-Files, I actually enjoyed the MotW episodes more than the 'mythology' episodes, at least in later seasons.

Of course, now I have Carnivale/TW crossovers in my head.

Your thoughts?
