Let's talk about smut, baby...

thehappyfangirlI was reading some of my old naughty chat logs yesterday, and boy howdy, I love RP-ing smut. Love it. I've always had a flair for erotic writing, and getting to do interactive smut is GREAT fun for me.
As I've said before in my guide to RP with Tanya, I don't like to do a lot of smutty scenes in a row because I get creative anxiety. Smutty RP is so much more for me than a sexy IC romp. These, of course, are in addition to smutty RP being fun as hell.
- It's a writing exercise. That doesn't mean I'm going to add urple prose as much as possible or get flowery, but I adapt my writing to the scene as it progresses. If it's fluffy, I keep it fluffy. If it's dark, I get dark. I try to keep it unique as well, which means that I have to give myself time between scenes to be able to write something new the next time.
- It's a character exploration. I've railed against internal monologues/metaposes before, but I tend to be far more lenient these days because I don't play with folks that will counter, "Scott regarded (character) with a neutral mien; he didn't know what (character) was up to, but he was sure it wasn't anything good." with, "(character) would have told Scott had nothing to worry about anyway, because (character) was only thinking of the good of the school." When I write smut, I like to get into my character's head and show the reader what s/he's thinking because, IMO, it adds to the scene and makes it more than just unf, unf, unf.
- It's a turn-on. I don't mind or care if my e-partner gets that special tingle from scenes like this, but as entranced as I am by the written word, I can't really stop naughty chatting from doing it to me.

When I look over my old chat logs, I notice that my characters, regardless of gender and genre, share many of my mannerisms when I naughty chat with them:
- They talk. It may be a steady diet of "Ohgod"s, but they're pretty verbal throughout. They like to use names too, though it's rare that names will get shouted out during climax. It's not necessarily dirty talk, but they do enjoy that as well, depending on the atmosphere of the scene.
- They tend to cuss, especially when surprised with something in bed.
- They like oral sex, both giving and receiving.
- Their climaxes are singular and explosive. My women aren't multi-orgasmic unless their partner spends a little time bringing them off again. Men...well, they're not multi-orgasmic to begin with.
- Unless it's a dark or non-con scene, they're post-sex cuddlers.

Since I've been getting a steady steam of smutty chats these days (and let me add that it's so nice not to have to cruise Tapestries for possible encounters that I might enjoy instead of some asshat wanting something to fap to without doing anything more than providing a body), I've found myself doing things and wanting to do things that you don't normally see in sex scenes.
Maybe it's because I don't want to get repetitive, but I think a lot of it is because I don't want to get bored with the "kiss/oral/penetrate/come/sleep" formula. Not that I'll ever get bored with my group of naughty chat partners; these are just some things I've tried/wanted for changes of pace (NOT necessarily attempts at some kind of realism - there's enough realism in the world. We can keep fantasies fantastic.):
- Non-penetrative sex. I've enjoyed more than a few slashy meta scenes that are solely oral stimulation or mutual masturbation and had LOTS of fun with it. I haven't done much of it with het scenes, but the times I have it's been fun as well.
- Premature ejaculation (Males only). I don't do this with just anyone; I tend to save it for people who I know won't mind if it happens. It doesn't happen often either. It's relegated to my younger males (*pets Wing*) or sometimes if the sex is just that good that my other guys can't hold back. In Tapestries, I had a character that would routinely fire off early if his current partner messaged me OOC and had to go, and I loved it. It was a way to end the scene quickly, it added to the dark humor of the character, and boy did it piss him off.
- Non-simultaneous orgasms. It can be wonderful to have it happen at the same time, but it leaves both partners lost in their pleasure instead of each other. I like the idea of "taking turns" sometimes, and my characters (my men especially) have that little Neanderthal inside them that likes the fact that they can make their partner come.
- Not reaching orgasm at all, or needing extra stimulation after her partner has climaxed (females only, scene dependent). I don't know why that's such a novelty for me; I don't usually do it without agreement from the other party, and the conditions of the scene are conducive to it (it's her first time, there hasn't been a lot of foreplay concentrated on her, etc.). Heh, perhaps it's because for the first years of my sexual experience, I didn't climax during sex at all. Subconscious jealousy, perhaps? I don't know :)
Anyway, those are some snippets of my smutty chat habits. Now that I've gotten them out of my head, the plotbunnies can return and wriggle their fuzzy noses again.

Date: 2005-11-03 04:38 pm (UTC)As much as I don't do ultra-realism, I do like to go for real/believable scenes that include such things as, "If we fall asleep and let things dry too much, we're going to rip body hair out when we finally do get up" or finding tissues to clean up/off and such.
I'm all for real if it adds to a scene, and am cool with suspending the realism if the scene would suffer. *chuckles* Even in erotica, it's all about the story :)
